February sees the launch of a new Swanwick Twitter event! Each month we’ll be hosting an hour long #askswanwick twitter-chat! We’re hoping that writers from across the Twittersphere will join us to participate in a discussion with a writing related professional, from agents to children’s writers, from crime-busting authors to editors. It’s a bit like getting a sweet morsel of the Swanwick magic and knowledge once a month. We’re hoping not only to provide you with some interesting guests for an hour but also use this chat as opportunity to share Swanwick with the world!

Writer and editor Sara Grant will be joining us at 8pm (GMT) on Monday, 3rd February to talk about her work writing and editing books for children and teens. Future #askswanwick guests will be crime writer Simon Hall, agent Meg Davis, erotic fiction writer Della Galton and agent John Jarrold. If you’ve never joined a twitter-chat before, simply search of #askswanwick on twitter when the chat is on. You can post a question for Sara using the same hashtag (#askswanwick). You can find more etiquette tips here.

Sara Grant writes and edits fiction for children and teens. "Dark Parties", her first young adult novel, won the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) Crystal Kite Award for Europe. Her next teen novel – "Half Lives" – is a story told in two voices from a pre- and post-apocalyptic time. She also writes a funny magical series for young readers, titled Magic Trix. As a freelance editor of series fiction, she has worked on twelve different series and edited nearly 100 books. She has given writing workshops in the US, UK and Europe and teaches a master class on writing young fiction at the University of Winchester. She is also involved with Book Bound, a weekend retreat for advanced fiction writers. She co-founded Undiscovered Voices – which has launched the writing careers of twenty-four authors, who now have written more than seventy children’s books. Find out more about Sara Grant.

We hope that as many Swanwickers out there as possible will join our chat with Sara on Monday, 3rd February at 8pm (GMT).

The Swanwick Twitter Team look forward to seeing you then!

Best wishes
Benjamin, Karin, Ruth, Andrew and Mike
