The extent of Nick’s interests and his warmth and enthusiasm were reflected in the tributes paid to him by his wide circle of friends. In addition his son Tristram read out one of his poems and the Great Bowden Recital Trust Choir, of which he was a member, sang “Calling My Children Home”.
Nick was 67 when he died, having retired as a GP two years ago. He had been a dedicated professional, one of his proudest achievements being the setting up of an immunisation programme for the travelling community. He appeared in several productions at the Market Harborough Theatre: I much enjoyed seeing him as one of the Voices in ‘Under Milkwood’. He soon made his mark with his acting skills at Swanwick, having survived joining me in a buskers’ duet during his first visit in 2011.
A regular at Leicester Writers’ Club, Nick served as President three years ago. He wrote poetry and short stories and had been writing a novel which he planned to finish in retirement. His poems appeared in Poetry Scene Leicester, a publication produced by Poetry Stanza Leicester, which is linked to the Poetry Society.
Nick leaves a widow, Lin, sons Tristram and Dominic and daughter Harriet.
