One-to-one specialist sessions

We are thrilled to be able to offer pre-booked one-to-one sessions with the following  specialists. By booking a 20-minute session in advance, you will be able to send your chosen specialist a sample of your work and receive constructive feedback. NB Booking opens February 2017 (January for Friends of Swanwick).

Kate Bendelow - CSI: Forensic Advice for Crime Writers  LIMITED AVAILABILITY
Kate is a serving Crime Scene Investigator with over fifteen years’ experience of working on crime scenes. She is the also the author of 'The Real CSI: A Forensic Handbook for Crime Writers'. Kate is happy to review written work that includes CSI and forensic issues to ensure accuracy.

Alison Chisholm - Poetry  SOLD OUT
Alison writes regular poetry columns for Writing Magazine. Her poems have been widely published, as well as broadcast on TV and radio. The author of various writing textbooks including ‘Crafting Poetry’ and of eleven poetry collections, she gives talks, readings, runs an adult education poetry course and is an adjudicator of poetry competitions.
 
Malcolm Chisholm - Self Publishing SOLD OUT
Malcolm’s aim is to help you get your print and e-books into the marketplace at no cost. He is the author of Self Publishing in Four Formats, available for free! If you’ve completed your book, familiarise yourself with the self-publishing options and have it ready to email to him prior to your one to one.  

Paul Dodgson - Radio Plays, Theatre Plays and prose Life Writing.
Paul is a writer, producer, musician and teacher who has written and produced extensively for BBC radio and television, including 3 acclaimed memoir plays for BBC Radio 4.  Paul has mentored many writers in the development of plays and memoirs.  You can find out more about him here at http://www.writinglife.co.uk/
 
Della Galton – Short Stories  SOLD OUT

Stuart Gibbon - Police Procedure  SOLD OUT
Stuart is a former Senior Police Detective in the Metropolitan and Lincolnshire forces. He is now a Writing Consultant who advises authors on police-related issues including standard procedure, forensic evidence and crime investigation. Stuart is happy to review and discuss all aspects of police procedure for those engaged in crime writing.

Simon Hall – Crime and Thriller Novels  LIMITED AVAILABILITY
Simon is the BBC’s Crime Correspondent for the South West of England and author of The TV Detective novels.  His books have been warmly praised as a fresh, distinctive and highly entertaining approach to crime writing.  He is also a tutor in creative writing and often lectures at universities and colleges.  Catch up with him at http://www.thetvdetective.com/index.html
 
Bridget Holding - All Genres  SOLD OUT
Bridget is a writer, psychotherapist, and tutor of creative writing for The University of Exeter. In previous incarnations she was a screenwriter, as well as an associate lecturer for The Open University. She mentors and runs holidays for writers, through her company Wild Words. She is happy to review fiction or non-fiction prose, screenplay, poetry or a story synopsis. 
 
Liz Hurst – Erotic Fiction
Liz has published four erotica titles under the pseudonym Kitty Mulholland, and has been reading widely in the genre for many years. She often places reviews on her blog http://kittymulholland.com which specialises in erotica and alternative lifestyles. Liz also runs her own editing business for novelists.
 
Jacqueline Jeynes – Non-Fiction
Jacqueline is the author of a range of non-fiction titles including business management, practical craft guides, social history, travel reviews and art history. Her awards include national Writer of the Year 2015 and Exemplary Course award from Aberystwyth University for her Art History Distance Learning modules.

Jon Mayhew – Children and Young Adult Fiction  SOLD OUT
Jon is the award-winning author of Mortlock, The Demon Collector, The Bonehill Curse and the Monster Odyssey series. He enjoys running workshops in schools and loves inspiring pupils to enjoy reading.  Jon is happy to review any kind of children’s chapter book, though not picture book, aimed at children over seven.
 
Sue Moorcroft – Popular Fiction  SOLD OUT
Bestselling novelist Sue Moorcroft is a Katie Fforde Bursary winner and writes women's contemporary fiction with sometimes unexpected themes.  Her books have won the Best Romantic Read Award and been nominated for a RoNA. Gordon Robertson - Comedy
Gordon is an award-winning scriptwriter who spent 10 years working with the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. He continues to write topical sketch comedy for NewsRevue in London and The Treason Show in Brighton.  He is happy to review comedy sketches, of up to 5 pages, as well as one liners, song parodies and caption writing.​

Benjamin Scott -  Children and Young Adult
​Benjamin will look at children’s fiction, from picture books to YA. Picture books texts should be no more than 1,000 words and for all others no more than a maximum of 2,000.  A short synopsis should be provided together with a brief description of what stage the work is at.
​

Please note that due to their popularity these sessions are often oversubscribed so you are advised to book early. The closing date for one to one bookings is 30th June 2017.

After the closing date, details of submission requirements and how to submit your work will be sent to you individually. To give sufficient time for review you should send your work to your chosen specialist before 22nd July 2017. Your individual time slot will then be allocated once at Swanwick.
