Procrastination Free Day
Procrastination free day will allow you to kick your project without the distractions that life throws at us, or the FOMO (Fear-Of-Missing-Out) that can be sometimes experienced at Swanwick.
This day-long workshop (9:30-4:15) allows you to leave your self-editor at the door. It's about hitting your word goals to ensure there is something for you to edit at the end of the day (or to be left to stew for a few weeks!) There will be (friendly) competition in a supportive atmosphere where we'll get down to the real stuff of writers - writing. Points will be scored for every 100 words written - we'll race to the first 1,000 words and then you'll be flying towards your personal goals.
Arrival is at 9.30am to get set up, turn off phones, internet etc. to be ready to start at 10am. Breaks will be given regularly, with water/tea/coffee/biscuits/fruit available in the room. We will stop for lunch at the usual time, but will be back to it straight afterwards until 4.15pm when you can have a well-earned break.
This won't be a drop-in-and-out day. We're in for the duration, but it'll be worth the perseverance!
Please note: places are limited, so it will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Please sign up as soon as possible on the sign-up sheet on the notice board.
Delegates are to bring along ideas for new work, or work that is being redrafted/edited. There is no genre or subject discretion and we won't be sharing our work. You can use pen/paper or laptops/tablets - we will occupy two rooms to cater for both traditional and electronic means of production.
