Evening Entertainment

Select this year's events that appeal to you and share in the

fun and laughter of friends, established and new.

Right on Cue

A mad-cap evening of fun-fuelled writing games and prompts. This is a great chance to kick-start your creativity for the week ahead.

Swanwick Speed Meet and Greet

A fun and informal opportunity to connect with other delegates and put more names to the sea of faces. Light-hearted format-for new and returning Swanwickers who are keen to network!

Buskers' Night

This is one of our most popular evening events. A PA is provided if you need one, and we have a few talented guitar / instrument players who will be happy to accompany you if you wish. If you're not a performer, then relax and enjoy the show.

Poetry Open Mic

Calling all poets! Our 'open mic' session is a fantastic opportunity to share your work with other poets or, if you're not a poet, this is an ideal opportunity to sit back and be entertained.

General Knowledge Quiz

Have fun and test your general knowledge at the same time. Nothing too taxing-no dimmed lights, black armchairs or starters for ten-just an entertaining and wide-ranging quiz. Teams (of four to six people) can be made up on the night and it's a great way to meet people.

Music Around the Firepits (weather permitting)

Join us around the Swanwick firepits for a chance to sing along together while the flames crackle beneath a (hopefully) starlit night!

Page to Stage Performances

Page to Stage is a very popular and enjoyable evening, so please come along and support these special performances. At the end of the evening, you will be invited to vote for your favourites and the Awards will be presented at the farewell on Thursday evening.

Prose Open Mic

Our Prose Open Night offers a great opportunity to share your work with others. You have five minutes to share your story, or a whole evening to listen to some fabulous stories from others.

Literary Quiz

This is not a highbrow quiz! Questions could be on Enid Blyton or Emily Bronte, on Contemporary or Classic, Humour or Horror, with the emphasis being firmly on having an enjoyable evening. Teams (of four to six people) can be made up on the night and it's a great way to meet people.

Meet Your Protagonist  NEW

New to Swanwick, this session is based on speed dating, but instead of introducing yourself, you get to climb inside your character's head and look out through their eyes. We give you some ideas of topics for discussion and you have five minutes to debate with your character's POV. before moving on to face another character.

Celebration Cake-cutting and Dinner

For our final evening, savour a toast to the School on the lawn and see the cutting of our 75th anniversary cake. A celebration dinner will follow to mark the occasion. Enjoy!

Fancy Dress Evening and Disco

DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER! While we encourage everyone to get into the spirit of the event, you're just as welcome to join in even if you don't want to dress up.

Prize Giving and 75th Celebrations

Join us after our celebration dinner for the last evening, where we'll be awarding prizes, presenting 'The Swannies', our very own Oscars for the Page to Stage writers and performers, and drawing the raffle. Sit back and enjoy the Celebration Sketch before we bid farewell until next year.
