LEARNING PROGRAMME TUTORS
SPECIALIST FOUR PART COURSE
There are normally four or five Four Part (Specialist) courses taught over the duration of the week. Each session is an hour, normally run in the morning. The SPECIALIST COURSES form the backbone of the learning programme, representing around 30% of the total programme and therefore demonstrable or evidenced tutor credibility/experience is an important consideration.
Successful courses must have wide appeal and are in one of the main genres such as Novels, Screenwriting, YA Fiction, Poetry etc. We would probably not consider any subject that we covered the previous year as a four-part course (with exceptions)—other than novel writing or poetry.
Tutor fee £400

TWO PART SHORT COURSES
We have up to 20 two-part SHORT COURSES over the week. These represent over 50% of the learning programme and therefore they must also have sufficient appeal (i.e. are they likely to attract around >30 delegates. All the main genres and other subjects such as
research, editing, KDP publishing and marketing are also considered. We are interested in both non-fiction and fiction. We often look for contemporary subjects, new areas and modern issues facing writers. We are also keen on courses that would appeal to the younger
writer market and courses that cover more progressive/topical subjects. For example, over the last few years, we have run courses on Writing for Mental Health and Gender Awareness. Short courses that offer opportunities for practical work are extremely popular
as are ‘how to’ type courses. Short courses are normally run in two separate one-hour sessions on the same day.
Tutor fee £200

WORKSHOPS
We typically have around 10-12 one-hour sessions scattered across the week, and this is an ideal opportunity for tutors new to Swanwick to get to know us. Workshops are often interactive and offer opportunities for practical and creative work and there is a vast range of subjects that we would consider, provided that we think they will attract a big enough audience. Workshops can also cover things that are not necessarily writing based, such as designing book covers, social media marketing and yoga/wellbeing for writers.
Tutor fee £50
