There are Four Specialist courses taught during the the week. Each Specialist Course is made up of four separate one hour sessions, each focusing on a different subject.​

short courseS
We have up to 12 two-part short courses over the week. These represent over 50% of the learning programme.
​We often offer contemporary subjects, new areas and modern issues facing writers - such as AI and Social Media.-
​
Short courses are run in two separate one-hour sessions on the same day.

workshopS
We have 16 one-hour sessions scattered across the week, giving delegates opportunities for for practical and creative work, covering a vast range of subjects

Workshops can also cover things that are not necessarily writing based, such as designing book covers, promotion, marketing and yoga/well-being for writers.

ONE to one sessions
Many tutors offer one to one sessions with delegates, to review a sample of their work and provide constructive feedback. These session help raise funds as a small percentage of the fee is taken by the school.

At The Writers' Summer School - it's not all courses and workshops!
Once the sun has gone down and dinner is over, we have an eclectic mix of EVENING ENTERTAINMENT and EVENTS lined up for you.

MIND BODY SOUL
The Summer School week is a busy one. Our special Mind Body Spirit sessions offer you some time to prepare yourself, relax, reflect and nurture the writer within.

During the conference week we set up a BOOK SHOP, which is available for all Swanwick delegates, speakers and tutors to sell their books.
The School takes a small percentage to contribute to our running costs.
